5 Simple [and cost-effective] Home Teeth Whitening Remedies

Everyone’s always looking for ways to get a brighter, better smile. But what if we told you there are ways to achieve your ideal smile without spending loads of money on whitening lasers and home whitening kits? We’re bringing you five simple, at-home remedies that have proven to be successful to whiten teeth. Take a look…

Baking Soda

It’s safe, it’s strong, and it works! Baking soda is an acid neutralizer which can help remove stains from your teeth without damaging your surrounding enamel. How do you apply it? Mix a pinch of salt and baking soda in a cup. Next, take a toothbrush and begin applying the mix to your teeth. Let the substance sit for about two to three minutes and rinse. You’ll see the difference instantly!

Banana Peels

Loaded with potassium, bananas not only strengthen your bones and joints, but the peel can be used to whiten your teeth! Wait – did I just say a banana peel? Yup! Rub the inside of the peel against your teeth for about two minutes a day (do it twice a day for best results). Your teeth will absorb all the minerals the peel has, helping them stay nice and shiny!

Hydrogen Peroxide

Everyone has used hydrogen peroxide at some point, whether to aid a wound or remove a stain. But this everyday product can brighten up your smile too! Simply pour a bit of the substance on your toothpaste just as your about to brush. Take a good 2 to 3 minutes applying the toothpaste on your teeth and you’re set! You may not get instant results, but over the course of a few weeks you’ll definitely notice a sparkle.

Lemon Juice

Because of its high acid levels, lemon juice has often been used to remove stains or as a bleaching product. Therefore, one can draw a parallel between the use of lemons to remove stains off of objects to removing stains off of teeth. Mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with one tablespoon of water and swish the liquid in your mouth for a few minutes. Although the results have been positive, one shouldn’t use it too often, due to the fact that the acid can cause tooth decay and deteriorate tooth enamel. Try this remedy twice a week – max.

Carrots and Celery

Carrots and celery are tasty, perfect if your dieting, and – get this – remove plaque from your mouth! What does that mean? Your teeth will be stronger, cleaner and appear much whiter! Because these fruits are rich in Vitamin C, chewing on them can help strengthen your gums and prevent diseases such as gingivitis. Pretty neat, huh?

You probably have access to one or more of these items right this moment. So what are you waiting for? Your million dollar smile is a few minutes away. You have the instructions – pick your remedy and give it a go!
