Toothbrushes of Tomorrow ... Today?

Not too long ago, advancements in technology were announced and showcased to the public at events like the World’s Fair, or more currently, CES and other industry conferences. But now tech innovations across all industries are so constant that we get emails and notifications about new products every single day. With all these announcements sitting in your inbox, you might not realize that your toothbrush, your favorite timeless oral hygiene tool, is about to take a jump into the future. Here are four new toothbrushes that just might change the way you brush your teeth!

Oral-B iO: The Oral-B iO is Oral-B’s new smart toothbrush, announced earlier this year. This refined power toothbrush used a linear magnetic drive to create smoother and quieter brush movements and an innovative bimodial smart pressure sensor to help you apply the right amount of pressure at the right spot. The brush also links with the Oral-B iO app to track your brushing habits and help you improve your hygiene routine.

Colgate Plaqueless Pro: The Colgate Plaqueless Pro sets itself apart from other smart toothbrushes with a novel feature – a plaque detector. This plaque detector, the only kind currently on the market, detects when all the plaque is cleaned off your tooth and lets you know when you can move on to the next one! Like the Oral-B iO, the Plaqueless Pro also has a pressure sensor and mobile app to help you track and improve your brushing habits.

The EZ Teethbrush: The EZ Teethbrush is probably the weirdest toothbrush you’ll see on the market. Its unconventional mouthguard-like design is engineered to brush ALL your teeth at once! Ideally this makes brushing easier and potentially reduces the amount of time it takes to clean all your teeth. EZ Teethbrush debuted with a Kickstarter campaign in 2018 after 10 years of research and development and the EZ Teethbrush can now be bought on their website!

Triple Bristle Toothbrush: The Triple Bristle Brush is designed with three converging brush heads. This design allows you to brush your gums as well as the front, back, and top of your teeth all in the same motion, saving you time and helping you get all the surfaces of your teeth clean. Triple Bristle claims to give you 2 minutes worth of brushing in just 40 seconds (as long as your technique is right). The brush has three modes to help you get the brushing experience that is just right for you, too.

These are just four contenders on the toothbrush scene. There are dozens of other companies innovating with sonic, electric, and smart toothbrushes that could be the perfect fit for you and your brushing habits. Make sure to do your research and consult with your dentist on which toothbrush is right for you. And before you visit the dentist, make sure you have good dental insurance so your care is covered!
