4 Steps to Attract More Clients

Whether you are just starting out as an independent insurance broker, or you are a seasoned veteran who just needs some new approaches, you can always benefit from having more clients. And, you need to always be looking for ways to increase your client base. To help you through the process, here are four steps to attract more clients:

1. Become a community leader

No, you don't need to run for town council (although to be honest, that might not hurt), but you do need to be a recognized name in your community. Sponsor a little league team or the local high school band, participate in community events like parades and days of service, and make sure your photo is prominently featured on all of your advertising materials. It is easier for people to call an insurance broker who they feel as if they know because they can put your name to your face. Getting involved in your community gives people a chance to get to know you outside of your business, making it more likely that they will opt to call you when they want to get or change insurance plans.

2. Make personal connections with your existing clients

You may have all the best intentions of keeping up with your existing clients, but time has a way of slipping away from us. Take some time to check in with clients now to see if they are still happy with their insurance. If you can, stop in for a visit or place a phone call instead of emailing. This offers a personal touch that lets clients know you care about their well-being, not just their business. Being accessible and personal with clients makes it more likely that they will naturally refer you to their friends and family members.

3. Sweeten the referral pot

While many clients will voluntarily refer you to friends and family, even more will do so if you offer them some type of reward through a referral program. People are more willing to sign on to an insurance broker that comes recommended from someone they trust, and clients are more likely to offer that referral when they get a bonus or discount for doing so.

4. Try inbound marketing

Inbound marketing is a relatively new marketing concept that focuses on creating quality content that pulls potential clients to your company. You deliver this content by blogging about content that your clients would find helpful and that answers their questions. You should also optimize your website to attract your ideal buyers. That means you need to analytically choose keywords, create content and build links around the terms you think your clients will search for in search engines. Also, leverage your social media accounts to share the valuable information you’re creating.

Getting new clients can be a full time job, so take these steps to attract and keep more clients.
